No-poo: How Often Should You Wash?
My first question– What’s your goal?
Are you hoping to wash your hair once a month? Or simply have healthier habits? I do it for the healthier habits option. I’m more than okay with washing my hair everyday with the baking soda & vinegar combo especially through the detox period. Even with washing everyday, I still noticed more oil at night during my 2 week adjustment period (I wash in the AM). Now that I’m through that phase I can get by without washing some days if I’m in a rush. I can go two days or probably more if I want, but I don’t do that on purpose.
If your goal is to wash your hair once a week or less
You can choose one of two routes. Wash everyday and slowly meet your goal, or wash only when you can’t stand your greasy mess. The longer you go without washing the faster your scalp will adjust. I guess the question is– How willing are you to give up some vanity? Pony’s, hats and headbands would be very helpful in this process.
If your goal is to have healthier habits
The same rule applies as above, but since you’ll probably wash at least 2-3 times a week anyways you might as well keep the oil at bay by washing more regularly. You won’t get through the adjustment phase super fast, but it doesn’t really matter since you’ll be washing regularly.
What if your hair is so greasy by 2pm you just can’t stand it?
I have three options that I can’t rave about enough!
